      Tuition & Financial Aid操逼图片

George School is committed to meeting the full demonstrated financial need of all accepted students.

Scholarships and payment plans help families afford a George School education, and our financial aid program (roughly 25 percent of our annual operating budget) is among the most significant in the country. Financial help is also available for things like our equestrian program, books, and service trips.

To begin the financial aid application process, please visit School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) and complete the Parent Financial Statement (PFS).

      Worried About Qualifying?
Many families whose income falls in what is typically described as the “middle-income” range worry about not qualifying for tuition assistance. Anyone with this concern should know that George School is different. We have a strong track record of meeting and working with families at all income levels. In fact, at George School, we see it as part of our mission to do so.

If you are committed to investing in your child’s education but concerned about paying the full tuition amount, applying for financial aid will make you eligible for our middle-income scholarships. We are dedicated to making a George School education a reality for families just like yours. Here’s how to apply.

      Merit Awards
At George School, our scholarship funds let us reward incoming students for demonstrating intelligence, optimism, curiosity, and leadership.

All students who meet the admission application deadline are considered for merit awards. No application is required. These awards range from $1,000 to $15,000 per year and renew annually.

Students who receive merit awards may also apply for financial aid.

      Financial Aid
Our financial aid awards meet 100 percent of a family’s demonstrated need and do not include loans. This substantial financial commitment creates an environment in which students with widely varying life experiences can learn together (and from one another).

Families are encouraged to apply for aid if they think that the cost of attending George School is greater than their ability to pay. Students who are non-U.S. citizens may qualify for financial aid, but these funds are limited. Priority is given to families who apply by the deadlines.

We know that each family has a unique financial picture. If you would like to discuss your specific situation or have questions about deadlines or application materials, please contact:

The School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) processes each submitted Parent Financial Statement (PFS) and provides an analysis of a family’s finances. In its analysis, SSS suggests a portion of discretionary income that a family can contribute towards the cost of a child’s education. The George School Financial Aid Committee considers the recommendation of SSS in combination with income/earnings statements, IRS 1040 forms, and any other submitted financial documentation.

The family contribution determined by SSS is a starting point for the Financial Aid Committee. After considering any extenuating circumstances, together with George School’s financial aid policies, the committee makes a final award decision. Financial aid awards are confirmed and credited to accounts only after we have received the family’s submitted, signed copy of all required Federal Tax Forms with all schedules, statements, and W-2 forms (not an estimated form). If your family applied for a filing extension, please notify the Financial Aid Committee.

If you think you need financial aid, you should apply. Admission applications are read without regard for a family’s ability to pay. Only in the final phase is the selection process “need aware” as the Admission Committee weighs its decision against available financial funds. It is possible that a student may be admitted and then the family either does not qualify for aid or is placed on the financial aid waiting list.

George School awards financial aid in the form of a grant that does not need to be repaid. While George School does not offer any educational loans, additional information on financing resources, including educational loan programs, can be found via the School and Student Services (SSS) website.

Families are required to complete the financial aid process each year they are requesting aid and the Financial Aid Committee makes a new assessment each year. Generally, if your family’s financial situation remains the same and you meet all of the deadlines, you can expect to receive a similar level of financial aid in future years.

Each year George School distributes approximately $11 million in financial aid to roughly 50 percent of the student body. The average financial aid grant is approximately $35,000.

The average day student financial aid grant is nearly $23,800, but ranges from $1,000 to full tuition. Incomes of day student families who qualify for aid range from less than $20,000 to more than $150,000.

The average boarding student financial aid grant is about $44,300, but ranges from $5,000 to full tuition. Incomes of boarding student families who qualify for aid range from less than $20,000 to more than $200,000.

Parents often ask, “What is the cut-off point for my income?” There isn’t one. If you think the cost to send your child to George School exceeds your ability to pay the tuition, then you should apply for financial aid. Every family has varying circumstances that affect their ability to pay for private education. These factors include family size, number of children attending tuition-charging schools, assets, and debts.

George School expects that separated or divorced parents will contribute to the cost of their child’s education regardless of whether or not there is a legal obligation for them to do so. The financial aid process considers all resources that might be available to the student. If either parent remarries, the Financial Aid Committee will take into consideration the obligation of that parent to his/her new family and the resources of the stepparent, given the obligation of the stepparent to his/her own children. Therefore, both parent and stepparent must submit financial information to our office.

In the event that one parent will not participate in the financial aid process, we require the custodial parent to submit a a non-custodial parent waiver form that will remain on file.

Some community, religious, and not-for-profit organizations offer scholarships. Applicants who are Quakers should seek additional funds from their monthly and yearly meetings. Prospective boarding students who show high achievements in academics and community activities may apply for one of four $15,000 Anderson Scholarships for boarding students.
